Meditate for Life started in 2022, born from my own lived experience and the techniques I learned to find a sense of calm.

I was first introduced to meditation by my mother, who took me to a meditation class at the Birmingham Buddhist Centre when I was a teenager. I didn’t take it too seriously at the time, but something stayed with me.

I worked for many years as short-haul cabin crew for British Airways and then long-haul for Virgin Atlantic. It was an amazing experience, and I saw the four corners of the world, but I really started to notice the impact that long flights, jet lag, and disruption to my body clock had on my anxiety and health and it made me realise just how essential inner calm is to wellbeing. That’s when I decided to start meditation seriously. That was over 15 years ago, and although I am no longer crew, it’s a practice I’ve carried ever since.

I personally started practising T’ai Chi when I was exploring moving meditation — a way to calm the mind without needing to be still. But as I continued, I really appreciated the physical benefits too and how much stronger my body started to feel, and I was hooked. I decided to study it and become a teacher myself. The style I teach is Shibashi, blending gentle, flowing movements with mindfulness and building physical strength. It’s a beautiful practice.

My journey into sound began in 2017, after I broke my shoulder — just before a family trip to Australia. I explored everything I could to support my body in recovering enough to fly. I came across sound frequency and vibration, That experience opened something deeper for me. Since then, my gongs have become part of my daily life. I’ve studied, and continue to study, the effects of frequency and vibration, and the quiet but powerful way they can support the body, mind, and nervous system.

I believe anyone can learn to meditate if they wish. It doesn’t have to look one way — it can be through movement like T’ai Chi, through stillness in seated meditation, or through sound with gong meditation — all offering powerful benefits for both mind and body.u
Its about finding a method and style that works for you and feels easy to return to. It’s also important that there are minimal conditions — whether that’s location, lighting, time of day, or environment… it needs to feel simple and accessible.

It should be something you can turn to anytime. When it feels easy to fit into your life, you’re far more likely to stick with it and let it become a habit

During my classes, I like to let go of rigid rules and instead blend different styles together, creating something that feels natural, supportive, and adaptable to each person.

Even now, I still have days when my mind is racing and my anxiety creeps in. I’m not perfect, and it’s precisely my own journey that has made me choose to study these practices. Everything I teach is rooted in my own experience.
